Historic Royal Palaces

I created a slogan and event copy for a family festival at Hampton Court Palace

The project

Historic Royal Palaces needed a family copywriter to create a slogan and event copy for their family-friendly event, The Big Bahooey

They wanted it to sound fun, silly and exciting for parents looking to take their kids on a bright, colourful, engaging day out.

The slogan

This was so fun to do. I gave them seven options with a few alternatives thrown in, with ideas like ‘The silliest, wackiest, fun-filled family day out‘, ‘A ridiculously silly family day out‘ and ‘A day of seriously silly nonsense‘.

In the end, the HRP marketing team and I  decided on: A day of serious nonsense

And here it is on the official poster:

This was designed by the incredible Rick Berkelmans. To check out more of his work, visit his website, HEDOF.

The event website copy

Next up was the website copy. They asked for it to sound unmissable and fun, but not overly silly, so that the message doesn’t become confusing.

It had to be family-friendly and give an overview of what events are happening. There had to be a mention of other things to do at the Palace, as well as street food vendors and picnics.

The result is a website page that feels light, fun and easy to read. It’s super family-friendly and makes the event sound like a place that’s going to keep the kids busy (and hopefully tire them out so they sleep on the journey home!).

Historic Royal Palaces now have a slogan and event copy that work well together.
