Let’s be honest, if you’ve searched ‘kickstart your business’ in Google, chances are you’re looking for ways to breathe new life into your company.
Maybe you feel stuck.
Maybe you’ve been faffing.
Maybe you just need a fresh burst of energy and direction.
Whatever the reason, you’re in the right place.
Let’s go.
10 ways to give your business a kickstart
If you’re struggling for new ideas to kickstart your business in these quiet times, try these:
One. Make yourself even more visible
Stop waiting until your logo is just right or your offer is perfectly polished. Start showing up now, especially on LinkedIn, and do this:
- Post consistently (3–5 times a week is solid)
- Share dead useful stuff, don’t just bang on about your offers and pricinG
- Tell stories, share tips and ask questions to get people engaged (so more people see you!)
- Don’t stress, it gets easier
The more you’re seen, the more people know what you do.
Showing up can feel scary, but that last bullet point is true.
Two. Keep them engaged
Staying with social media.
Don’t just post and run:
- Ask questions
- Use polls and stories
- Reply to comments and DMs
- Listen to what people are saying
Business gets easier when you’re in tune with your people. They’ll tell you what they want if you’re paying attention. This doesn’t just mean on LinkedIn, either. Make sure you’re doing this on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube or whatever platform you’re using to get people to take notice.
Three. Test, tweak and repeat
That works for one person might flop for another. And even if you think you have an incredible service people will go crazy over it, they might not.
But don’t feel down.
Keep trying out:
- New offers
- Different pricing
- New platforms
- Different content types
Don’t take failure personally.
Take it as feedback.
Then adjust and keep going.
Four. Get a copywriter involved
I’m not even gonna leave this till number ten or a separate call to action.
Copywriters are so undervalued compared to a website or graphic designer. Visuals are vital, but what sells a product or service are the words!
Don’t underestimate the power of words.
Anyone can write, but not everyone can write in a persuasive and engaging way.
If you’re still staring at a blank About page or rewriting your sales page for the 97th time, it’s time.
A good copywriter helps you:
- Sound like you
- Connect with the right people
- Actually sell what you’re offering
And you’ll get your hours back.

Five. Sort your branding out
Your branding doesn’t need to be fancy, but it does need to be consistent.
Work with a designer to:
- Choose colours and fonts that feel right
- Create templates for socials
- Develop a logo that suits your business
The goal?
Recognition and professionalism, even if behind the scenes you’re still figuring things out.
Six. Make sure your website isn’t shit
Your website is not just a digital business card. It’s a 24/7 salesperson.
Here’s what you need:
- A Mobile-friendly, fast-loading design
- Clear, simple messaging
- Obvious call-to-actions (what should people do next?)
- Proof you know your stuff (testimonials, case studies, portfolios, etc.)
It shouldn’t be just someone you stick your email address or phone number.
Your website reflects your business and if it’s absolute turd, what are you telling your audience about working with you?
Seven. Invest in your business
Free tools are great, until they’re a waste of time.
If something is slowing you down or causing stress, it’s okay to invest.
Whether that’s:
- A project management tool
- A business coach
- Proper email software
- Outsourcing stuff you hate to a Virtual Assistant (VA)
- A freelance writer or designer
It’s hard when money is tight, but things rarely magically change by keeping things the same.
If you really want to give your business a kickstart, investing is the best way to do it.
For example, hiring a graphic designer to completely rebrand my business is the best investment I’ve ever made in my business and it’s led to me being more recognisable online.
Eight. Create offers that actually excite you
You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.
Hate 1:1s?
Run a group offer.
Love talking?
Start a workshop.
Burnt out from client work?
Create a course.
You’re allowed to pivot. You’re allowed to change. Build the business you want to run; it makes things more fun and every day is enjoyable instead of feeling like a pain in the arse.
Nine. Take a break
Burnout is not a strategy. You need space to think, plan and create.
So:
- Block out non-negotiable days off
- Give yourself two solid weekend days (even if that’s a Tuesday and Wednesday for you)
- Set boundaries with clients
Creativity and clarity come from a rested brain, not an overworked, frazzled one.
I’ve burnt out twice in my seven years (at time of writing) as a freelancer.
It’s not worth it.
You don’t have to be thinking about your business, checking your emails and logging into socials for a pointless dopamine hit because some randomer who will never work with you has liked your post.
Ten. Actually do something!
There’s no perfect time and putting things off means things never get done.
Start now.
- Launch the offer
- Send the pitch
- Post the thing
- Email your list
Don’t wait, do!
Ready to breathe life into your business?
Then what are you waiting for?
You don’t need to overhaul everything. Just pick one thing from this list and do it this week.
And coming back to point four, if you need a hand with the words that’ll give your business a kickstart, you know where I am.
Until next time,
Matt
